Decorating for Christmas doesn’t have to be overwhelming or take hours. We have 9 easy ways to add some festive touches to your home this holiday season.
Ornaments in unexpected places: Fill clear glass vases, bowls or serving trays with ornaments (add some greenery) and place them on tables or shelves. Or hang them on chandeliers and light fixtures.
Group miniature Christmas trees: Create mini forests and decorate with fairy lights for some sparkle. Put them in unique containers like dough bowls, tea cups, urns or even egg cups.
Be creative with string lights. Wrap lights around stair banisters, door frames, windows, or even bed frames. Hang them vertically down walls, across mirrors, over photo galleries or through chandeliers.
Add a festive scent. Release seasonal fragrances like cinnamon, pine or peppermint through candles (we love this one and this one) or through room diffusers like this one. Or go “old school” by steeping cinnamon sticks and cloves in water.
Decorate your bar cart. Seasonal touches like metallic accents or vases of winter sprigs is a great start. Other ideas include pom pom garlands, bottlebrush trees, holiday glassware or gold reindeers.
Let the faux snow fall. Sprinkle faux snow on surfaces like window sills, tables, or mantels. Or make a charming winter scene inside a glass bowl or terrarium with props like evergreen boughs, nests, and woodland creatures.
Tie a bow on. Silky or velvet ribbons in jewel tones look great on everything from wreaths and garland to candleholders and utensils.
Frame an indoor doorway. Whether it is greenery, ribbons, a paper garland or felt pom poms, these hangers work like a charm. A popular hack is to take an adjustable shower rod, fit it across your entryway and drape your greenery around it.
DIY paper snowflakes. Make paper snowflakes and hang them from ceilings with invisible thread or tape them to windows. Add them to your tree or create a snowflake wreath. Here is a great tutorial on how to make perfect the perfect paper snowflake.
