I have to admit I love my job. Every day I get to work with different people facing a variety of challenges, big and small. Each space I work in presents a different challenge, but in my eyes they have some basic things in common. Making sure a space functionally works for them is always my primary focus when a client needs organization help. When asked to design, I look to understand and showcase their own personal style. Great results can often be achieved by simply refreshing or restyling the elements that no longer speak to them.
In that light, I’d love to share with you some of the projects I’ve had the good fortune to work with recently. Perhaps it will inspire you to tackle a space in your home. Always know that you can reach out to us if you need some help.
City Living
It was an absolute pleasure to work on a full service design, renovation, and organization project at the glamorous Ritz Carlton Residences in downtown Boston. This included sourcing furniture, accessories, artwork and rugs, as well as multiple closet designs.
On The Move
I recently helped several clients sell their homes and prepare for moves as varied as down the street to locations like Mississippi, Texas, and Minnesota. These projects include decluttering, packing, styling before the sale, junk removal and estate sales management. Believe me, I know there is a lot to think about when you move from a home you’ve lived in for many years!
The Home Away From Home
Many people struggle to furnish and style a newly purchased vacation home and I’ve been fortunate to work in quite a few, including a beach house on the Cape, a ski home in NH, and a lake cabin in Maine where I selected floor tile, new counter tops, and cabinet paint colors. Whether you plan to live in, or rent, your second home it’s important that it feels inviting and functional.
Vermont Farm/Event Center
Have you ever been on an alpaca farm? I had an amazing opportunity to help a farm and conference center in rural Vermont with the design of eight AirBnb units, some that were newly constructed to host large events. I even got to style a wedding chapel with a working wood stove. An absolutely beautiful place to say your vows!
Kids Rooms
Even though my own kids are grown and out of the house, it has been fun to work with many families with young children. I was recently asked to help teach two young girls the basics of decluttering and room organization. I also designed a boys basketball themed bedroom and a fun hang-out space for teens.
The Great Outdoors
I have been asked to create lounging and dining outdoor spaces for many clients, including a new home renovation in Austin, TX. You should enjoy spending time in your outdoor living spaces as much as indoors (especially here in New England).
Dirty (But Fun) Work
Sometimes I’m asked to head downstairs into the basement or upstairs into an attic where it seems like your life’s possessions have accumulated in one spot. I love to dive in and get my hands dirty (literally) helping customers free themselves of a hidden danger zone which can be overwhelming for them to conquer. Another often neglected area is the garage, where I recently helped a client setup a custom organization system, including heavy-duty shelving and vertical storage.
