The holiday season is upon us. It is time to pull out the boxes of decorations and deck the halls. You can create a joyful and uplifting space that focuses on togetherness and family traditions.
There are always new items and ways to translate Christmas when we decorate. For inspiration, here are three holiday decor trends for 2022 and some examples of items that are hot right now on social media.
Cozy Aesthetic
There has been a growing interest in the slow life, doing less things and spending more time on the things that matter. This trend, which includes creating sanctuaries (with a cozy and warm vibe) in our homes; has translated into holiday decorating. Think homemade crafts, extra lush garlands, flickering candles, fluffy throws, rugs and pillows.
Nature Inspired
Bringing the outdoors in will continue to be popular this year. Of course fresh greens and natural elements have always been a part of decking the halls, but this year you can expect to see a lot of decorating with woodland theme ornaments. Experts are calling it the “enchanted forest” trend which includes everything from wooden gnomes to bark deer ornaments.
Non-Traditional Color Palettes
For decades, red and green have been synonymous with the festive season, and they are still popular. The past few years have seen a rise in blue, farmhouse neutrals and earth tone colors like mossy green and natural wood and white tones.
Recently, we’ve seen even more creative holiday color schemes become popular. For example, mid century modern iconic palette (like mustard yellows, blacks and dark teals) has made its way into decorations. Also saturated jewel tones (like emerald green, fuchsia and canary yellow) are hot as well. There’s even a pink trend in shades of blush and rose gold.
